If you’re moving to the Columbia area, you may already be thinking about what entertainment and internet you want in your new home.  Here’s a rundown of where to find those services locally:

CenturyLink’s high-speed internet is connected to a national fiber-optic network that brings speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (1,000 mbps) to central Missouri. In addition to the ultra-fast speed, customers receive 24/7 technical support. CenturyLink’s Prism TV is also on the fiber network. Prism TV features HD and premium channels, whole-home DVR and a wireless set-top box that allows you to set up your TV anywhere. The system’s other features include an app center, video caller ID and multi-view screen that lets you watch four shows at one time on the same screen. Prism on the Go gives you remote access to your DVR and Prism On Demand titles. CenturyLink’s phone services all include unlimited local calling.

Charter Communications advertises internet speeds starting at 60 mbps. Its voice services include more than 13 popular calling features and unlimited local and long-distance calling in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. Charter Spectrum TV has more than 200 HD channels, more than 10,000 On Demand choices and DVR service.

 

DirecTV’s entertainment offerings start with base satellite TV packages ranging from 130 to 285 channels. Packages include a Genie HD DVR upgrade. DirecTV is the only provider with NFL Sunday Ticket. Customers can stream live TV and thousands of On Demand titles on any device at no extra charge. DirecTV also partners with the nation’s top phone and internet providers to provide customers with money-saving bundles.

DISH offers satellite TV and DishNET satellite internet in Columbia and the surrounding area, including more than 200 national HD channels and local broadcast channels. Households can customize their viewing experience with the Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR. With the free DISH Anywhere app, customers can watch live and recorded home TV content on internet-connected tablets, smartphones and PCs at no additional charge. DISH also provides TV and internet bundled discounts and offers free new customer installation.

Mediacom provides high-speed internet up to 150 megabytes per second (mbps). Its internet service includes free security tools, 24/7 customer support and multiple email addresses per customer. Prime TV provides an interactive on-screen guide, TiVo DVR and thousands of free On Demand titles. When paired with Mediacom Prime TV, Mediacom’s phone service includes caller ID on your TV set. Mediacom phone provides unlimited local and long-distance calling to the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and more. With Mediacom’s Home Controller, customers can view, control and secure their home from virtually anywhere. Customers can also select from Mediacom’s bundle packages for savings on the best in-home entertainment services.

Socket offers TV, phone and internet services, including local phone and internet bundles, as well as stand-alone Naked DSL internet. The company offers fiber services, providing speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. TV service is also available in select areas, featuring more than 170 channels, DVR and premium movie channels. Socket prides itself on offering Columbia-based tech support to all customers.

Quantum Wireless  offers internet, TV and phone services for households and businesses in central Missouri. Customers have access to fiber optics, cable, DSL, point-to-point microwave links and 4G WIMAX internet service. Through Quantum, customers get multiple avenues of TV media such as cable, satellite and IP TV. Customers can save money by bundling TV, phone and internet services. Quantum also does cellphone, tablet and computer repair, as well as web hosting, web design and SEO marketing. Quantum is locally owned and operated in Columbia.

Tranquility Internet offers residential and business internet service in mid-Missouri. Residential high-speed service includes options for wireless internet, Naked DSL and DSL. Tranquility’s wireless high-speed option utilizes 4G technology; no phone line is needed. Naked DSL runs through your phone line but requires no phone service.
